The European Respiratory Society has announced the formation of a task force to develop guidelines for the management of patients with bronchiectasis. The two year project will develop the first standards of care for the disease across Europe and identify priorities for research and further development. The guideline committee will now seek to appoint a representative multidisciplinary team of experts from around Europe to guide this initiative. Guidelines are scheduled for publication at the end of the 2016.

This initiative represents an important contribution by the European Respiratory Society to improving quality of care for patients around Europe.
